Casting The Applications for this season, opened up as soon as 2018's season had finished, with singles being persuaded to start recording audition tapes and videos to send in to producers. At the start of April 2019, it was reported by the Daily Star on Sunday, that the producers were looking for more body-diversity in the applicants for the season. This move came after backlash from the fans, who complained about this subject during the previous season. It was also revealed that better aftercare for the islanders would be put into place by producers, after the unfortunate suicides of Sophie Gradon and Mike Thalassitis in 2018 and 19 respectively.[2].
